Donation Acceptance Policy
Okapi Children Cancer Foundation is grateful for the generosity of donors who support our mission of helping children battling cancer and their families. To ensure transparency and accountability, the following Donation Acceptance Policy applies to all contributions made to the Foundation.
Donation Acceptance
Acceptance of any contribution, gift, or grant is at the discretion of the Okapi Children Cancer Foundation. The Foundation will not accept any gift unless it can be used or expended consistently with the purpose and mission of the organization.
No irrevocable gift, whether outright or life-income in character, will be accepted if, under any reasonable set of circumstances, the gift would jeopardize the donor’s financial security.
Professional Advice
Okapi Children Cancer Foundation will refrain from providing advice concerning the tax or other treatment of gifts and encourages all donors to seek guidance from their own professional advisers to assist them in the process of making donations.
Types of Donations Accepted
Okapi Children Cancer Foundation may accept:
- Cash donations
- Publicly traded securities
- Certain in-kind services at the discretion of the Foundation
Other forms of gifts — including real property, personal property, non-liquid securities, in-kind gifts, and contributions whose sources are not transparent or whose use is restricted — may require review prior to acceptance due to special obligations or liabilities they may pose to the Foundation.
Donor Acknowledgment
Okapi Children Cancer Foundation will provide acknowledgments to donors in accordance with applicable tax requirements for property received as a charitable gift.
Except for gifts of cash and publicly traded securities, no value shall be assigned to any receipt or other form of substantiation issued by the Foundation for donated items.
Donor Privacy and Restricted Gifts
Okapi Children Cancer Foundation respects the intent of donors relating to gifts made for restricted purposes and those relating to the desire to remain anonymous.
With respect to anonymous donations, information concerning the donor will be restricted only to staff members who have a legitimate need to know.
Compensation Restrictions
Okapi Children Cancer Foundation will not compensate, whether through commissions, finders’ fees, or any other means, any third party for directing a gift or donor to the Foundation.
Your support helps us continue bringing hope, care, and life-saving support to children fighting cancer.
