HOPE - NEUROBLASTOMA SURVIVOR
My daughter was diagnosed with cancer neuroblastoma at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada. I received a lot of support emotionally from the staff of UATH. They introduced me to OkapiCCF who supported us tremendously throughout our treatments by providing the means to pay our bills and even providing provisions and other food items and parties during festive seasons. I am a small ugwu seller, there is no way I or my husband would have been able to cater for the cost of our daughter’s cancer treatment, but God sent us helpers through Okapi Children Cancer Foundation. We sincerely appreciate them and we pray more Nigerians and the government will support them to make life easy for children fighting cancer. Because it is not easy and it is not cheap.

SHITTU ADEWUMI - LEUKEMIA SURVIVOR
My son was diagnosed with cancer in 2017 at the age of 6. It started with constant fever and after series of tests and time in and out of the hospital, he was diagnosed with Leukemia. This diagnosis shattered my world as I had never heard of cancer, I fainted several times and in my state of confusion, I contemplated running away. Members of OkapiCCF showed up one day and encouraged me, they also provided financial assistance and gave me hope, that my son could live again. We started the journey of chemotherapy and so many other medications and they never left my side, they supported us all through the treatment cycle and to God be the glory, my son is doing very well now and back in school.

IDRIS - NEPHROBLASTOMA SURVIVOR
My son Idris was diagnosed of nephroblastoma at UATH when he was 2 years old. The whole process of treatment was traumatizing and expensive. But he survived it. He is now 11 years old. Since then he has been attending clinic. The last time he was due for a review, he was given series of investigation to be done including an MRI scan. I became quite. But the Consultant, Pediatric Oncologist (UATH) assured me that if it was fund, there is no problem, she has sponsors. The fund was provided and all the investigations were done, including the MRI scan. My son has also attended series of parties; end of year parties, children’s day parties and has received a lot of gifts and goodies; courtesy OCCF. Thank you to OKAPI Children Cancer Foundation (OCCF) for all your gifts, financial, psychological and moral support given to the children fighting cancer, the champs as well as their families.
